Organic Farming Success Story: PM Modi’s Interaction with Mizoram Farmer who earns 7-Folds

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, recently had an interactive session with beneficiaries of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra via video conferencing. One of the participants, Mr. Shuyaya Ralte, an organic farmer from Aizawl, Mizoram, shared his inspiring success story with the Prime Minister, highlighting the significant increase in his income through organic farming.

Since 2017, Mr. Ralte has been cultivating ginger, Mizo chilly, and other vegetables using organic farming methods. He mentioned that he has been able to sell his produce to companies as far as New Delhi, resulting in a remarkable increase in his income from Rs 20,000 to Rs 1,50,000.

During the interaction, the Prime Minister inquired about the market for organic produce, and Mr. Ralte informed him about the Mission Organic Value Chain Development initiative in the North Eastern Region. This initiative has created a hassle-free market for farmers to sell their organic produce.

Expressing his satisfaction, the Prime Minister commended the increasing number of farmers in the country who are adopting organic farming practices. He emphasized that organic farming is not only beneficial for the farmers but also critical for the health of both the people and the land.

Shri Modi highlighted that over the past nine years, the market for chemical-free produce has grown more than seven times, resulting in higher incomes for farmers and better health for consumers. He expressed his gratitude to farmers like Mr. Ralte who are leading the way in organic farming, especially from the remote areas of the North East.

The Prime Minister encouraged farmers who are still undecided to embrace organic farming and reap its numerous benefits, especially from North East of India.

Mizoram
